Golf Amsterdam

Arriving in Amsterdam for golf
The seasoned travelling golfer will understand how to travel with golf clubs, airlines now offer services and carry bags for airlines are designed to take the worry out of damage in transit (although I’m sure we have all found something awry once in a while on arrival).
Golf clubs also understand the benefit of offering clubs for hire to visiting golfers, so you can always play at a moments notice by renting your clubs.
If you do bring your clubs, it is worth considering how you are getting to Amsterdam.
Eurostar and golf clubs
Using the Eurostar has many benefits. It can reduce your carbon footprint for travel, it can avoid air traffic control delays, it only takes 4-hrs from London to Amsterdam and you can take golf bags on as one of your pieces of luggage. Your precious clubs are also less likely to be damaged on the Eurostar than in the hold of a plane.
The Eurostar arrives in Centraal Station in Amsterdam, so if you have chosen a hotel nearby, you can walk your bag across to your hotel. If you have chosen a hotel on the edges nearer a golf course, you can either make your way there with your bag using public transport, a taxi or hire a car. If hiring a car online, you can ask for the car to be ready at your hotel or at the station. You can use Amsterdam hire car to find the best deal.
Schiphol Airport
If you arrive in Amsterdam by plane, then you can hire a car at the airport. As most of the golf courses in Amsterdam are on the edges of the city and not in the centre (which is almost a no-go for cars), you might be wise to choose a hotel on the edges of the city too. This way you can hire a car and drive to your hotel and then have the flexibility to drive to your courses of choice.
This is not 100% essential though. If you really would like a centrally located hotel then you can easily carry your bag onto a tram, get a taxi or even walk from Central Station to one of the very close by hotels, bag in hand. It is then just a case of either getting a taxi to the course or hiring a car for a day.
Take a look at our Amsterdam Areas page to see the type of area you’d like to stay in. As mentioned, most of the golf clubs are out on the edges of Amsterdam, so staying in the south of Amsterdam, the east or west is a good bet.
