Zuiver Spa HOTEL in AMSTERDAM
If you are looking to stay at a romantic and dedicated spa and sports hotel then look no further than Zuiver Spa.
It is situated on the edge of Amsterdam in Amsterdam Sud. The spa hotel is set within Amsterdam Bos, which is a large woodland park space, so it is a very pretty and relaxing location with plenty of places for long nature walks or rides.
You can stay at the Zuiver hotel or visit for the day spa use.
What is at Zuiver Spa in Amsterdam
Zuiver Spa is a luxury wellness hotel with both spa and sports facilities. The spa itself covers 13,000m2 with pools and saunas, both indoor and outdoor. There are bookable treatments and a restaurant.
There is also a fully equipped gym so you can work on fitness as well as your relaxation.
Naturist spa in Amsterdam
Zuiver spa is a naturist haven. Unlike in the UK, visitors shed their clothes when using the spa/sauna for the ultimate wellness experience. Tight swimsuits restrict the bodies ability to breathe and sweat properly and hygiene is better when naked. So, if you visit on most days, you will need to leave any inhibitions at the door and enjoy the freedom of naturist spa use.
For those who still want to wear a swimsuit there are special ‘swimsuit’ days when everyone will be wearing swimsuits. These happen on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. During these days swimwear is mandatory, all other days it is naturist use only. Something to consider when booking your visit.
Just as a note, we’ve found that the spa does have a lot of stairs, so this is something to consider from an accessibility point of view.
How far from Amsterdam is Zuiver Spa
We like to say all places are within easy reach of Amsterdam’s attractions and historic centre due to the excellent transport links and bike routes. As a guide if you use public transport you are 30-minutes away from Museumplein which hosts the Van Gogh Museum, Rijksmuseum and Stedelijk Museum. However, if you have bikes the journey can be done in only 15-minutes.
Whichever route you choose, although the hotel is on the outskirts on the map, you’ll find that its location on the edge of the Amsterdam Bos is a wonderful escape from the city and easily within reach of all the attractions.
Spas and golf often go hand in hand. If you are looking for a spa break combined with a bit of time on the fairways, then you’ll find Amsterdam has a thriving golf scene. Use our Amsterdam Golf page to find out more.

Amsterdam hotels with a spa
Many hotels in Amsterdam offer pools and gyms with some form of treatments available too. It is a big draw for city centre hotels to offer relaxation to their guests whilst they stay in Amsterdam.
Below you’ll find a few of the hotels that we think offer a lovely luxury spa experience during your stay and not just a pool and treatment room.
Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam
World famous and set along the Herengracht, the UNESCO World Heritage listed site. The Waldorf Astoria offers complete luxury across the six 17th century canal palaces it inhabits. A Guerlain spa, swimming pool, sauna, fitness centre and treatment rooms help you relax and the three restaurants and bar will recharge you for your next days exploration.
Luxurious, spacious and elegant rooms, lofts and suites enjoy views over the canal or courtyard garden and feature historic elements and original Dutch design.
Situated in the centre of Amsterdam, close to Hermitage Museum and the Museum District.
W Amsterdam
This luxury hotel is formed by merging two historic buildings together, creating a contemporary style with a heritage mix. The hotel offers beautiful views across the canal and guests can enjoy the spa, two swimming pools, one of which is a rooftop pool, a gym and five restaurants including a Michelin starred. W Amsterdam also offers a modern business centre.
From the hotel you can be in Dam Square within a 4-min walk and Anne Frank House withink 7-min. Centraal Station is 0.5miles away and the famous Nine Streets shopping area is 5-min walk away.
W Amsterdam is in an excellent location with a very highly rated spa and restaurants.
Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam
Luxurious hotel blend of Dutch history and French elegance. Situated in the historical city centre giving you easy access to Amsterdam’s main attractions. Dam Square and the famous Nine Streets are just a 5-min walk away for example.
This hotel offers a choice of very well-appointed rooms, suites and luxury suites, the latter offering butler service. There is a swimming pool, spa, wellness and fitness centre, bar, an award-winning restaurant focussing on seafood, coffeehouse and library.
Lovely central location in a beautifully elegant building with Sofitel’s renowned quality.
Are there any day spas in Amsterdam
You can book a day visit to any of the hotel spas listed above, but if you are visiting Amsterdam for a few days or more, then staying in one of the spa hotels can make a lot of sense.
If you’re in Amsterdam and just fancy a visit to a spa for a few hours then we would recommend Sauna Deco.
Sauna Deco in Amsterdam
This in an architectural marvel in the heart of Amsterdam. It’s one of the oldest spas in Amsterdam and the interior has to be seen to be believed.
The place is a love letter to French art deco, with some of the actual internals all being taken from a luxury French department store built in the art deco era.
There is not a large pool here, but there is plenty of room to relax and wonder at the stunning environment you find yourself in. There is a steam room, finnish sauna, infra-red sauna, relax rooms, plunge pool and cafe. Treatments are bookable too.
Robes/towels are provided, but this is a naturist spa, like pretty much all European spas, so you’ll wander around with a robe or towel on and be naked when using the facilities.
To be honest, being naked in the beautiful interior just feels right anyway, so we say just go for it.
Stays are limited to 4-hrs and you’ll need to pre-book in advance.
Sauna Deco is in the heart of Amsterdam Centrum along the Herengracht, around a 10-min walk from Central Station.
